Here's the deal…When I was little, I wanted to be Dear Abby when I grew up. That's right, I wanted to be an advice columnist. Giving people advice and helping them find solutions to their needs is just something I've always done. When I started this blog, my goal was to share my story and answer questions here or there. I run this blog because I love to blog.
I'm not here because blogging makes me a ton of money (it doesn't) and I'm not here for a paycheck. It's a nice surprise when an affiliate relationship pays off — but it's not why I'm here.
But, that being said, blogging comes with expenses that need to be covered. These expenses include Internet, electricity, computers, software, hosting, and more. So, I've developed an affiliate and sponsorship policy, as detailed below:
- I cannot promote items or services I don’t like or use. So, if you see I am recommending a product or service, it's because I use it, love it, find value in it, and truly believe you will find it useful for the purposes I list. Your trust means a lot to me, and I would never post anything to violate that trust.
- I have sought out specific affiliate programs for reliable products and services that I already use. If I use something that does not already have an affiliate program, I continue to use it (this ties back into the whole “it's impossible for me to recommend something I don't like or use” scenario). If you see me recommending a product, you can be sure I used it first and joined the affiliate program after because I loved it — not the other way around.
- I am a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for me to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.
If you have any questions at all about this policy, please feel free to contact me.
