I sometimes suffer from tunnel vision. I know, tunnel vision usually makes everyone who stands outside of the tunnel suffer – but for me, when I come out of tunnel vision, that is generally when I realize just how neglected I’ve left everything.
Right now, my life should be infinitely easier to mange. Having finished school with my MA, I should have more time to pour into my own writing, my daughter, and other long-forgotten projects around the house. Instead, it seems I have gotten trapped in an unending job hunt that has consumed so much of my time and energy that I have progressed very little with my writing, gotten nothing done around the house, and as we speak my daughter is playing by herself with a book in the middle of the floor instead of playing with me.
And let’s not forget the obvious, my blog has been a little light lately, as has my Twitter and Facebook presence. I have reviews to be written, interviews to be asked and posted, and so much more.
At any rate, for the first time today I have decided to participate in One Line Wednesday (#1LineWed). An event in which writers of all stages can post one line from a work in progress using the hashtag #1LineWed. Each week has a new theme. This week’s theme is “Sound”.
So here it is, one line from my priority Work in Progress, Heir of Elendri: Destiny’s Lure:
It rubbed the bristles of its thick legs together, creating a hissing noise and threatening to end the peaceful night.
